One Year Project Update...
Sunday, March 01, 2009 21:15

Oh boy...

Every time I add a post I remind myself that it's been a very very long time since my last post. Ugh, I really should make use of this site more than I do...

Anyways, on to the real news: I've been kinda slacking on the One Year Project, up until recently. The good news is that I've picked up the slack and dove right in to getting some tracks together. I've finally picked up an electric guitar again...and it actually felt right.

Everything is still very preliminary, but I am sure that I'm making progress. Hell..I might even have some proof of my progress up here in a bit (remember, I work on valve time). :)

In any event, things are rolling, creative juices are gestating and I have an odd sense that I might actually make my deadline. I'm hopeful, and that makes me feel good.

Wish me luck!

New www.stnoclan.com goes live!
Sunday, November 30, 2008 20:45

Finally, I finished Superior To No One's website. King Morgan made the design, Durstin clipped the images and made all the initial CSS site, and I did all the code.

Honestly, it was a ton of work. It was fun, though I got stuck on a few things...that's why its release was deterred. Truthfully, I'm pretty proud of what we've made. It's probably the biggest web project I've completed to date. I can start talking real geeky now about all the cool stuff that's going on in the background, but I'm sure all 2 of my readers don't give a shit.

So, in the near future, hopefully I'll wrap things up with that site and be able to make it a little more modular.

Anyways, that is all. I'm just glad that this project has finally seen the light of day.

Announcing the "One Year Project"
Wednesday, October 08, 2008 19:26

After a long discussion with my life as to what I really want to do with my life...I came to a conclusion...I want to do a little bit of everything.

Since I answered my own question, I've decided to start my own series of projects, which I will call the "One Year Project".

Here are this year's stipulations. Create a 12+ track of musical material that is suitable to be a part of a video game soundtrack. The second stipulation is that I should have at least 8 tracks that I would consider B-sides, or of lesser quality but still could fit into the video game soundtrack genre.

I purchased a 49 key keyboard controller that came with some software. On top of that, I've found an excellent resource of free software/electronic instruments that will aid in my project.

So, what's this mean? September 29th 2009, I should have enough material to release a 12 track album and an 8 track EP.

If you're one of those few people who actually browse my site, keep in touch because I plan on posting information and samples detailing my progress. I've already got a few tracks that seem to be a good starting point. Boy...it's going to take me a while to get back into the groove of writing music.

why is evryone so excited about iphone3g?
Thursday, July 10, 2008 18:34

honestly, I don't understand why everyone is so damn excited over the apple 3g iphone. it's cheaper and twice as fast. who cares?

I mean, the real issue here is that apple didn't release the phone with 3g in the first place. now that everyone went out and bought a twice as expensive and half as fast phone...are they really going to be shell out the money to buy another phone?

the answer is yes...only because there's one company in the entire world that could screw up so badly and do so well and then make their customers stay updated in technology and upgrade their existing piece of useless cellular technology.

ps - sorry for all the capitalization and spelling errors...I made this post from my phone.

Music from the days of the past
Thursday, June 12, 2008 20:30

So, I was playing some TF2 recently with my buddies. One of them is in a hardcore/metal band (Ever So Cold). It got me thinking about the days in which I used to dabble in music/recording.

So, I found my old "demo" cd and a few extra songs here and there. Now you can download them for free...because I never finished any of them, and I might as well put them out there.

The entire demo cd

Download Each Song separately (if you wish):

Summer Gamefest '08
Tuesday, May 06, 2008 20:44

Taken from the STNO forums:

Ok, I promised 5088 that this post would be up last night, but I ended up having some networking issues that I had to deal with.

Anyways...

This may be a new concept for some of you, but all of you townies should be more than accustomed to this...

Gamefest! Gamefest!

We're looking at July 3rd (evening) until July 6th (you must leave by 4pm). This would take place at my place of residence, in New Castle PA.

For those of you who don't know what gamefest is: or this!

Bring your PC, a toothbrush, some cash, a pillow, clean underwear and come play games.

It's open to all clan members. Those of you who are not a clan member, you're also welcome...though space is very limited and clan members are given precedence over non-members. Also, there is a group of locals who aren't clan members but are close friends of ours (townies) who will also be joining.

We'd REALLY like it if you out-of-townies could make it, especially you guys who live 4-6 hours away. That would really make it a special event.

We're trying to raise money for Unbekannt to come to the gamefest. He's in florida, we're in western, PA. Contact 5088 to donate.

Donations for the fest...please bring cashes for the gamefest. If you want to eat, you will donate money. Honestly, it takes quite a bit o money to run this operation from my house, so donations are more than welcome. If you'd like to pay beforehand, I'd gladly accept checks or paypal. Also, we need things like paper plates, plastic silverware, paper towels, chips, pop (soda), beer, etc.

Donations to my wife...Yeah, seriously. I'd like my wife to continue to love me. If you want that to happen, you will contact 5088 and donate so that my wife can have a night out thanks to you. I'd like to get her a gift card for Outback Steakhouse and a gift card for a local cinema. I would really appreciate it if you guys could come together and make my life a little bit smoother. so, contact 5088.

Directions/contact information will be given out at a later date.

Edit: Changed dates to 3rd through the 6th

Forums! Yay!
Wednesday, September 05, 2007 19:43

So, I have forums.

One the left side there's a link.

If you read this webpage, you should sign up for the forums. The major reason I threw forums up is because I felt that I've been losing touch with many of my friends. What better way to keep in touch with my friends? Tada...forums!

Please sign up and participate. I'd like to get some gamefest planning done ahead of time so we're all prepared for the next fest.

Who hates school?
Wednesday, August 22, 2007 20:55

That'd be me.

School starts up next week. I'm taking two courses--Networking and Human Resource Management...enthralling. The Human Resource Management class is also a night course...oh joy. Every Monday night after work I get to have tons o fun during my night class. I'm excited, can't you tell?

It's been a month since I started my new job...and I'm happier than I have been in a long time. This job is much better suited to me and my personality.

Kyli and I got our Honda Element. That vehicle rocks. It's quite spacious, comfortable, and good on gas. I <3 it. Funny thing is, Kyli took it to the gas station yesterday and someone backed right into her. This is our first gem of a vehicle and someone backs right into it. I haven't seen any damage on the car, but the guy who hit her didn't even stop to say sorry...he just drove off. Gotta love jerks in New Castle who drive hillbilly trucks. Seriously, next time you're in my area, come and see my car. I'll take you for a ride.

I purchased Bioshock yesterday. Besides it being a fiasco (purchasing anything on steam is blatant bullshit), the game is pretty amazing. It's fun and intriguing. Looks like it might have been a bad idea for me to purchase this game right before classes start.

Also, I've been going through my good ol' Microsoft books. I'm studying up to take all the tests to become an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). It's pretty much like having MBA at the end of my name. Should take me a while to get through all 6 books and tests...so I'll keep you all updated.

Also, I updated a few lines of code on my webpage that allows me to better manage HTML formatting within my blog. A few lines go very far for usability.

That's about it for now. Have a good one.

Long-Needed Update
Tuesday, July 24, 2007 21:45

Of course...it's been too long since my last real update. The only reason I'm updating is because a ton of things have happened recently.

I got a promotion, effective Monday July 23. My title is distributed systems specialist I. This means I'm moving from the Slippery Rock University Help Desk to the SRU server group. I'll be working on server hardware/software. It seems as if I was hired to help with the transition from a mainframe system to a web-based/application based server system. I'm actually pumped about the position, and that I'll be instrumental in the transition from a system created in the 60s to more updated technology. As of right now, I'm still working at the Help Desk...until someone makes me leave. Also, it seems that I won't have an office or cubicle...for the time being. I'll have a desk sitting outside two other people's cubicles. Fun fun.

Besides getting a new job...with more money...Kyli and I are in the process of getting two new vehicles. We're purchasing a 2003 Honda Element, black with gray trim. It's sweet. We're also looking to trade in our two shitty vehicles for a smaller, less gas-guzzling car that still has a warranty.

This past weekend was the first gamefest at our house. Kyli decided she couldn't stand all the testosterone, and stayed the weekend at her parents. Otherwise, the gamefest went well. I liked that I had a dedicated server set up for most games, which obviously made it easier to play goodies like CS and VS. We only went through two cases of canuck, plus some extra girly beverages. Fun times. James even showed up on Sunday, which pretty much made the gamefest worth it. I guess I was a pansy and fell asleep quite early both nights.

Things that were left at my house:
ipod
belt
beads
window fan
chairs
drinks (I call dibs on the drinks)

That's my update for now. Have a good one

The semester comes to an end...
Monday, April 30, 2007 19:22

The end of the semester is here...really! I honestly can't believe it. Time has flown past so quickly.

Kyli and I moved into our house this weekend. It was actually kinda hellish, but I am beyond glad that it's over. It was such a horrible day to move in...rain, cold, and plain disgust. Anyways, we got everything moved. Len came to the apartment and was nice enough to help me move everything from the second floor to the rental truck. He was there when we moved everything from the truck to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of our house. Thanks to Mono for showing and lugging all the items I didn't want to lug on my own. Thanks to Greg and Dalton for all their help.

My dad and I "finished" the bathroom on Friday. Kyli and I sanded, primed, and painted, while my dad finished installing the shower and vanity/sink. We have a fully functional bathroom! Otherwise, we were going to put off the moving to the next weekend.

Kyli and I are pooped. We're slowly unloading boxes and putting things into place. It's going to take us a while to get comfortable with things.

Once we get things together, we'll take pictures of the place and let everyone see the place. I'm so excited that I have my own house...many times larger than my stupid apartment. You all will have to come visit.

It's been a while...
Sunday, April 15, 2007 08:54

Vanessa and Brian keep complaining that I don't update my website anymore. Well, I've been slightly busy as of late...like we just purchased a house, I switched jobs back in November, and World Of Warcraft pretty much took over my life for a few months of my time (I didn't renew my subscription...that's probably why I'm updating my site...).

Anyways, Kyli and I have been busting our asses working on the house...painting, moving and decorating. My dad and I tore out the old bathroom and he's been doing the plumbing and all the other work with the bathroom. Kyli and I have the entire first floor painted, and we're still working on getting all of the second floor done. We finished painting the master bedroom and threw one coat of paint on the computer room, but we also still need to paint the trim in that room and throw another coat on the walls. Uncle Ralph and Uncle Mike have been showing up on the weekends and they pretty much rewired the entire second floor (there was old knob+tube wiring being used). Uncle Chuck showed up for a day and pretty much whacked out all the tough carpentry stuff in the house. Denise showed up and helped clean the walls, which was a daunting task. My mom has been cleaning the carpets and cooking us meals.

It looks like we're planning on moving April 28th...so, if any of you muscular youngins want to join us in moving...let me know. We purchased a dishwasher, which is already in the house. Kyli's parents purchased us a washer and dryer, which have already been delivered. Kyli and I also bought a range and refrigerator, which are to be delivered on Wednesday. We bought an electric stove...one with a flat top surface. Pretty nifty.

Well, there's so much to do and so little time. I've gotta go out and purchase some more paint and get some supplies so we can finish painting the second floor. I'm out.

A stepping stone...
Friday, November 10, 2006 11:13

It's been a while since my last post. Every time I do make a post, I always swear to myself that I'll do it more often, and then I forget that I even own a website. Oh well...

Alot has changed since my last post. On Monday, I'm starting my new job. Yes, that's right, a new job already. This time, I've been promoted. My title will be Information Technology Technician (same as before), but I'll be working at the SRU Helpdesk. This is an excellent career move for me. Now, I'm in the State System of Higher Education, which is an excellent place to be. Now, I'll finally get benefits...health insurance (for my and Kyli), free tuition, etc. It will rock. I'll be working a regular dayshift job, no more evenings and weekends. That's the big deal for me, because I hated not having a weekend to piss away, and evenings with friends and family. Being an AFSCME union employee is going to rock.

That'll be it for now, as I have 2 tests I need to bomb today.

After months and months of laying on a lopsided futon that makes your back ache, Kyli and I decided it was time to rid ourselves of our horrible second-hand furniture. Kyli looked up some places on the interweb and found a decent financing deal at a certain place. We left for the metropolis of Beaver Valley in hopes to buy myself just an armchair, so I can chill out on this chair and get some work done. We left with a paper in hand saying we purchased a sofa, loveseat, armchair and ottoman...yes, I said ottoman. Just saying that word makes me feel old.

Anyways, we struck a deal and our furniture will arrive this Thursday. Pretty crazy, considering that all I wanted was a chair.

Airplanes + flu = disaster. Never, and I mean never, ride an airplane when you're completely congested. Chewing gum doesn't even help one bit. Kyli and I went to Chicago last weekend to visit Vanessa and Brian. Kyli was sick on the ride there, I was sick on the ride home. Now, Vanessa and Brian are probably both sick, thanks to us germy people.

Kyli and I had an excellent time visiting the two in Chicago. I was very envious of their apartment, being that it had hardwood floors, high ceilings, ceiling fans, and a dining room/office. Their place rocked. We went to a White Sox game, to see the Sox blow away the Mariners (even after an hour rain delay). We checked out Millenium park, in the pouring rain. Tis a nifty place. I felt so bad because Vanessa bought a bunch of beer just for me and I was too sick to even drink it. We visited the Museum of Science and Industry, which was interesting. We rode the "L", which was also an experience in itself. Overall, it was a good trip, until the flight back home. On the flight home, I busted some blood vessels in my ear, thanks to my flu. Couldn't hear properly out of it for a few days. Chicago is just so enormous.

Tuesday was the Tool concert. That was fun, even though I was still so completely tired from the trip and work. I guess I expected a bit more from Tool, but I probably shouldn't, since I've seen A Perfect Circle twice and should expect just as much from him. Tool is the type of band I'd like to see once. Now I can cross that off the list of things to do.

Test on Monday...it's gonna be rough. I'm out for now.

The Aftermath...
Wednesday, September 20, 2006 10:53

It's been so long since Kyli and I got married. So much has happened I don't even know where to pick up.

Life has changed quite a bit since before the wedding. Now, I'm back to school...of which I absolutely hate every minute. I began the semester by taking 3 classes for a total of 9 credits. Now, I'm down to 2 classes. Healthcare Informatics was the class to which I had to say goodbye. It was an online course, which I've never had before. The amount of work that goes into an online course isn't worth the measly three credits. I wasn't even really interested in the subject in the first place, which obviously helped my decision to rid myself of that class.

Now, I'm left with Principles of Management and Systems Analysis and Design. I just had my first test for the management course, which completely blew. I don't know how I'm expected to read a chapter of the book a week, while keeping up with work and my other course. Meanwhile, my other course, we're going through a chapter and a half a week. I honestly don't know how to keep up with all the damn reading and work.

Thanks to my classes, I am now working Saturdays, and not working Fridays. This is a travesty. I have to open AND close on Saturdays. Lucky me, the first week I had to work Saturdays, the student worker didn't show up on time and I had to cover the front desk until she showed. The same thing happened the next week, only this time she showed an hour later. Anyways, back to the first week...there was an event that day and I had to stay the entire time they were there, which I obviously went over my allotted 7.5 hours because they even stayed an extra half hour longer than they were supposed to. That made for a shitty weekend.

So, since I work Saturdays, I have no weekends. Sundays are the days that Kyli and I do laundry, clean up the place, go shopping (grocery and whatever else), and I'm supposed to do homework after all that. Where is my relaxation time? I miss it.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the days that I have classes. I have a class at 9:00AM and another class at 12:00PM. Right after my 12:00 class, I go directly to work. I arrive at work around 2:00PM and stay there until 9:30PM. Mind you, it's about a half an hour drive to SRU from my apartment, so I typically wake up at 7:30AM and leave for SRU at about 8:10AM. I typically get home from work around 10:00PM. This makes for VERY VERY long Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesday and Thursday, I don't have any classes, so I go into work at 12:00PM and get home around 10:00PM. So, since I'm used to waking up so early every other day, I get up quite early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I can't find the ambition to get any homework done, because what other time do I have to relax? If I do get started on homework, I just don't get much of it done, especially the reading for my classes.

In summation, I'm beginning to become worn out. I'm not used to such long days, lack of sleep and stress that's involved.

To top off my stress level, I had an interview for a job at SRU this Tuesday. This, of course, only makes my stress level increase while I'm waiting to hear a response about the job.

Now that I'm done complaining about my life, I don't even feel like elaborating on all of the wedding stuff. Right now, I'll just sum things up...

The wedding went well. Everything was perfect. There were no errors, mistakes or even slight screw-ups. It was beautiful. Thanks for sharing the experience with Kyli and I.

The honeymoon couldn't have been better. Our cabin was set atop a mountain along the Smoky Mountains. The view couldn't have been any better. The cabin was beautiful, the towns filled with things to do and Kyli and I carved a few memories we'll cherish the rest of our lives. We loved the place so much that we are probably going back next year.

I guess I'll end on that note, as Kyli is frantically calling me on my cellphone while I'm in the library...(I'm not one of those jackasses who picks up their cellphone right in the middle of the library and disturbs the entire facility).

That's it for now.

One week
Saturday, August 05, 2006 19:19

That's right. One week before lace, light colors, toasts, champagne, monkey-suits, ceremonies, tranes, rings, and the "I do's". While at work yesterday, the ladies at work reminded me of the miniscule amount of time before all this stuff. I'm just amazed. How time flew!

I just finished the first cut of our pre-wedding slideshow, a video I compiled of photos of Kyli and I. This is what made me realize how close I am to marriage. Every time I've ever made one of these "videos" is a time where everything is coming to an end, and a new time is coming. In the past, I made one for Kyli's graduation party, one for my parents shortly after I moved on to college, and now, this one...for my wedding. These are times of transition, where everything changes, I grow up a little more and move on to the next challege that life hands me.

This video made me cry. I can't show it to Kyli, because it'll be the end of her. It wasn't a sad cry, just a realization that I'm not a child anymore, and that I can't wait to have Kyli finally be a part of my family.

So much time has passed, yet I feel as if I haven't aged enough. Watching that video made me realize how much Kyli and I went through. It took us like 4 months of dating before our first kiss, and now, we're the first in our group of friends to be wed. I guess I never imagined I'd be here today, doing what I'm doing. It's easy to forget those little moments in our past, where the world stops revolving, and all that matters are those times from the past. I realized that I'm not where I want to be in life, but I do have an excellent headstart.

Kyli and I have been through lots. We've been to Niagra Falls, Toronto, Central PA, Michigan, Virginia. We've been through great times and times much darker. We were children when we started dating, and we grew together. Now, we're at the beginning of a new era, where I hope we continue to grow together.

I also went through a bunch of my old backup discs, where I saved all my old documents, photos and other interesting creations. These files brought up quite a few memories. It seems like everything I used to be went through a filter, trimming many of the little things in life that I used to enjoy. One of the things I miss most in life are my friends. Yes, I realize that most of them are still around here, but it's not the same. Pat's been away for the entire summer, and I sure as hell miss him. I was reading some of our old AIM conversations and I just freaking miss him. He's definitely an important person in my life and I hate for him to be so far away. I miss living 1/2 a mile down the road from him. I miss riding my bike down to his house and nearly blowing each other's faces off with fireworks. I miss playing Kirby and listening to Adam Sandler CDs and eating pretzels until 6am. Honestly, I just the group of friends that were inseparable in high school. I don't care how much our friends said they hated high school, it was the best time of our lives. We didn't have to worry about bills, food, girlfriends (most of us). All we cared about was our friendship with each other. I miss that.

Pat, come home. I miss you.

The end is near...
Wednesday, August 02, 2006 09:22

Every day, I'm getting closer and closer to being a married man. I'm not 100% sure how I feel, whether I AM excited, or whether I'd just rather have all of it over with. I suppose it will be a huge party, with all of my friends there, celebrating Kyli and I. Oh well, I'll probably freak out on the wedding day and be Groomzilla.

Vacation! I can't wait to go on vacation. I've only went on vacation twice in my life, once when I was 11, and once a few years ago. I can't wait to get away from computers, technology, and all the people that ensue. I'm so glad to have the job that I have, but I just can't wait to get out of here and away from all the problems that relate to technology. I swear, if I get a call from work while I'm on vacation...I'll be quite pissed.

By the way, we're going to Tennessee, for our honeymoon/vacation. Out in the smokey mountains, we rented a one bedroom log cabin. My idea of vacation is getting away from all stress and having complete relaxation. This place looked beautiful and seemed like a great choice for a relaxing getaway.

Had my bachelor party this weekend, which was a high-tech geekfest. I had an excellent time and want to thank Mono (NOT MY BEST MAN) for planning out the party. I'm glad those who showed did and wish Pat could come. We'll have another after the wedding so that Pat can join in. Thanks to all for making it possible.

That's it.

Kyli's Wedding Shower
Sunday, July 16, 2006 09:40

This weekend was Kyli's wedding shower, where she and I were showered with many many gifts. I can't wait to go through all the stuff and make Kyli cook dinner...I mean...so I can cook dinner. Kyli said everyone was so generous, and I have yet to go through all our stuff...so I have no clue what we even got yet. Anyways, here's a link to the pictures.

I saw Nine Inch Nails this weekend. Second time I saw them, and I must say, this time it was even better. Reznor looked amazing, sounded amazing, and didn't miss a single tune. They played every song I wanted them to play, and the experience was just plainly better than when I saw them six freakin years ago. It was an extraordinary time.

It's just over a month until I get married. Seems pretty crazy to me. It really still hasn't hit me, but I know it will. Ask me in a few weeks how I'm feeling and my response will probably be different.

So, It's been over a month since I started my new job. What do I have to say about it? I love it. Of course, there's a lot of work that has to be done, but I feel confident that once I leave that place, so much more will be done to make it a more oiled machine. I'm glad they chose me to work there. The pay is quite amazing, compared to any job I've ever had.

Kyli's car sucks. Her engine light started to turn on, and the car would stall when she was idling. So, we took it to the dealer to have them diagnose it. Their diagnostics hurt my pocketbook...alot. $1800 and a week later, her car was still showing the engine light. I love car dealers. So, now we're looking at purchasing a new car, maybe a Cobalt or an Aveo...if I can fit into one. It'll be weird if we buy a car...just because that'll be the first time for something of that sort. It's weird having to pay rent, a cell phone bill, electricity, water, gas, sewage, and for groceries. This is all weird to me, since I'm not used to having all these responsibilities. It makes me feel all grown-up.

That'll be it for now. I'm out.

This is a time for celebration
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 09:17

Lots of pertinent things have happened since my last update. So, I'll begin my story from May 13th:

May 13th: Kyli graduated from college. Hiram College graduation is an all day event. Congrats to Kyli for graduating top of her class.

graduation

Sunday, May 14th: This is the day Kyli and I chose to move in to our apartment...bad idea. First of all, it was mother's day, so we both missed out on our normal mother's day festivities. Also, neither of us were completely packed and ready to fill up our rental truck. Anyways, we moved in to our apartment. We both love it, even though we didn't even have a bed yet.

apartment

Same day: After getting all our stuff in the apartment, I was putting together our dresser, by putting the mirror on top of the dresser and mounting it properly. Well...the mirror fell out of its frame and onto my foot, causing immense pain, gigantic swelling, and my first trip to the Cranberry Twp. Emergency Room.

foot

Monday, May 15th: I was supposed to have an interview with SRU for an Information Technology Technician position. Keep in mind that I am now wearing a special boot on my foot because the swelling hurts like hell. Also, we had no hot water yet, so I had to do a nice, cold sponge bath before my interview. I also had to contact my interviewers and ask them if they'd be nice enough to meet me at the elevator, because the interview was on the third floor and I don't have an elevator key. The interview went well.

Thursday, May 18th: I had to work the morning shift this day. I was driving to work...and I hit a car...fender bender. An excellent way to start a morning. There was really no major damage to either car and the police officer didn't even write a report because no one got injured. Of course, I got a call later in the week saying that the woman DID go to the hospital and is claiming an injury. Oh well, we both have the same insurance company, so it should be a painless battle.

accident

Friday, May 19th: I took yet another cold shower. We checked out the basement and there was water in it, an amount we couldn't determine. Our landlord came out, said we had 7 inches of sewage in our basement. I was storing all of my extra computer equipment in the basement...luckily, I had my equipment sitting on an elevated shelf, just barely above the poo line. He cleaned out our drains and told us that should never happen again. Also, I finally got my bed, internet, and cable this same day. I had been without the entire week...which made for a very boring week.

Also, Friday was my sister's wedding rehearsal and dinner. I had to get my tux from Rondinelli's. First of all, they had the wrong coat size for me. Also, I had them special order me a shoe for my bad foot, since the normal shoe wouldn't fit.

Saturday, May 20th: My sister's wedding day! I went back to Rondinelli's and got my tux with the right size coat and special shoes, which miraculously fit. This day was a long day, which I wasn't prepared for. I just had too stressful of a week to be prepared for this wedding. I still had an excellent time, with Brian, James and both of my sisters being home. It was a grand time, and I have the pictures to prove it.

Tuesday, May 23rd, at 7:30PM: I recieved a call, informing me that I was being offered the job at the RLA, and I accepted. Basically, I start next week.

So, as you can see, I had one of the craziest weeks of my life.

That's it for now.

Music from the past
Tuesday, May 09, 2006 09:58

Most of you who know me know that I used to be a musician. I was recently going through my stuff this past week, prepping for moving, and came across some of my old music. I decided to just throw them up on my site for you all to enjoy. So, here's some of my old music!

The Porn Song
The Severe Beating of a Dark Project Guitar Player
Number 1
Endure
Heavy (otherwise known as Ostrich)
Rearranged

I have more music that I've written, but I'll have to search for it. That'll be it for now.

The brighter side of life...
Sunday, May 07, 2006 00:47

When I was in college this semester, I was very unhappy. When I dropped out of college this semester, I was even unhappier. I went 6(?) weeks without being able to find employment, with 3 years of experience behind me. Now...I'm working, getting paid a minimal amount and driving 52 miles each way, and I'm happy.

I became so pissed off at the world because I applied for probably 40 jobs or more and basically got no responses, unless if I wanted to work as a night desk clerk in a negative 5 star hotel. Now, my anger is subsiding and faith in the way things work is now brewing.

I have scheduled an interview with the Slippery Rock IT department for the IT Technician position. I'm crossing my fingers. Even if I don't get this position, I think things will work out (not as I had wished).

P.S. - Packing your belongings absolutely sucks.

Kyli brought this to my attention, today. I thought it was kinda interesting to see my name.

Work...work...and some more work...
Saturday, April 29, 2006 18:16

Basically, I've been working like a crazy person. I enjoy it, though, very much. I've been working at The Regional Learning Alliance, which has been a blast. I've gotten to know many interesting people and am glad to have the opportunity to be a part of this excellent team. My official title is "Information Technology Technician", which basically means that I'm the scapegoat whenever any technology fails. I don't know how long I'll be working here, as I'm only a temp and I finally applied for a full-time, permanent position at Slippery Rock University. The job at SRU is also titled "Information Technology Technician", but the benefits rock the house. Please, pray to every god to let me get this position, as I think it's completely perfect.

Another big thing that's happening in my life is that I'm moving. Yes! It's true! I'm finally leaving the henhouse and moving out on my own! Kyli and I signed the lease for an apartment in Zelienople (north of Pittsburgh, for those readers in Chicago). We move in May 14th. It's an excellent 1 bedroom apartment .6miles from downtown Zelie. I think Kyli and I are planning a "housewarming" party, but we'll have to discuss details before anything is carved in stone.

Also, I've had a dream since I was about 13. Finally, my dream is starting to come through. My dream was to have my own recording studio, and I decided that I'm only young once. So, I bought all the equipment I needed to have a small project home recording studio. I bought an ADAT 8-track recorder, a 16-channel mixer, some cable snakes and some ADAT tapes. I've already got a couple of microphones and cables...I can't wait...

That's basically it for now. Have a good one.

OMG...what were you thinking?
Friday, April 14, 2006 00:46

I recently came across some photos that induced great amounts of vomiting. Of course, I'm going to show you these photos, so that you'll vomit as much as I did, and I'll have someone to share the experience with...and be able to console each other at cocktail parties.

Scroll down if you dare.

Commence the Vomiting!

For those of you who don't know this person, they went to West Middlesex Jr./Sr. High School. They posted this picture on their Myspace page for the public to view. As if that wasn't bad enough, they're currently using it as profile picture. Trust me, I've spent a good amount of time pulling myself away from my vomit bucket, so I can squeeze this story in before I pass out from losing my internal organs through my mouth.

What would possess you to take a Jessica Simpson-esque photo? What bothers me the most about this person's myspace profile is that one of their photos is of "Alucard", a character from Hellsing. If you take "Alucard" and flip it around it spells "Dracula". Easy enough to remember how to spell it, right? I guess not! How do you freaking misspell Dracula?

This person also goes to college...which makes me wonder......nah....I won't even go there...it's just to easy.

Please, if you take photos like these, please leave them in your personal stock, or pass them on to those who are willing to stomach the vile inhumanity you seem to possess.

Phil

UPDATE: 1:18 AM

So, this person also has a public photo album, online. There, you can find a picture of this person's rear end, some disgusting hentai photos, and some other randomly weird crap. It wouldn't be right for me to post a link to the photo album, but trust me, it's not hard to find.

...bleh...

The RIAA isn't all that bad...
Wednesday, April 05, 2006 09:55

Today, I read a piece of a comedy...at least that's what it is to me. This article (posted by MIT's student newspaper) made me laugh.

If you're too lazy to read the article, let me sum it up for you. An MIT student got a threatening call from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). By threatening, I mean that the student was given an ultimatum, pay the RIAA $3750 or else. Why? Because the student had been caught pirating music, a major criminal offense. The student even tries to get the readers to sympathize with the author. The author portrays the RIAA as an evil corporation, full of ditsy blonds.

After reading this article, I cracked a smile, thanks to the moronity of the author. The auther lashed out at an RIAA employee she called "Bowie" (for the sake of anonymity) and poked fun at this person. What right does anyone have to poke fun at a person who is doing their job, following orders, and actually trying to make the entire ordeal as painless as possible.

What I don't get is that this MIT student (MIT being one of the best universities in the entire world) stole something and claims what she did doesn't deserve lawful punishment. Stealing is stealing. Pirating music is stealing. If she would look into copyright law, she'd find out that the punishment entails a $250,000 fine and/or up to 5 years in prison per infringement. A measly $3750 fine is surely an easier way out, and wouldn't even leave a mark on her record.

You'd think that a student from MIT wouldn't be such a jackass, but I guess that not everyone who goes to MIT got in because of their mental abilities.

Maybe the RIAA is an evil corporation, but they're just doing their job. If someone stole something from me, I wouldn't be as nice as the RIAA when it comes to punishment. I sure as hell would punish them to the full legal extent.

Saved from eternal boredom!
Tuesday, March 28, 2006 11:43

I got a call yesterday, from the RLA (Regional Learning Alliance). They said they need a temp to work as an Information Technology tech. I guess I was first on their list to call for such a position. Basically, I start Wednesday. I'll be working M-Th, 1PM-8PM, in Cranberry. Yes, it's gonna be a bit of a drive, and it's not full-time, but the pay is quite decent for a temp position. I can't wait to actually have a reason to wake in the morning.

Besides that, both of my sisters came home this weekend, since Veronica had her wedding shower. Vanessa brought her boyfriend and Veronica's fiance also came home. We had a good time, hanging out and going to the bar. I'm glad I got to spend time with my sisters and pleased with the time I spent with their significant others. It was an excellent weekend, though I am completely pooped and ready to pass out on my own bed.

That's it for now. Have a good one!

Just a basic update
Sunday, March 12, 2006 19:42

It's been a while since my last post. The reason for that is because I've been waiting for a phone call back from a couple of the jobs that I applied for, but the calls never came. The funny thing is that they called me, did a preliminary interview, said I was the best applicant for said position and then said the VP of Human Resources would get back to me within a few days.

No calls.

I called HR, they told me that they basically didn't know anything about me... I'm sick of searching for jobs.

So, basically, it's been over a month since I dropped out of school. I've been wasting my time for a freakin phone call that I'll most-likely never get. Honestly, I'm as despressed as I was before I dropped out of school, if not worse off. Now it's time for me to start looking for jobs at say Wal-Mart, Movie Gallery, or some shitty, dead-end position, just so I can make the damn minimum payments on my credit card. My suggestion to all is that you shouldn't buy a completely new laptop if you're going to drop out of college.

Otherwise, I've been doing quite well...you know, by wasting my time playing online poker, reading the useless classified ads, and realizing that my resume is useless on Monster.com.

I do miss the days of music
Friday, February 24, 2006 12:04

I had my first interview after dropping out of college. I basically declined the offer, for multiple reasons. It was interesting to see how the interview was conducted. In all reality, I think it was my first formal interview, since I've never really had an interview for the jobs I've had in the past. The interviewer told me that I need to find a job more closely related to my field, to which I agreed.

Besides being interviewed, I also went to Mono's band practice. The band members are Mono on guitar, Scotty on percs, Twiggy on bass, and Andy on vox. I really didn't know what to expect, because I haven't heard mono play guitar in ages, and heard that Scotty is an excellent drummer. After hearing them play "Take on me" by Ah-Ha, I was convinced that they were farther along than I thought they were. Scotty IS an excellent drummer, Twiggy's a good bassist, Mono rocks out on guitar, and Andy has the family musical talents. They were pretty good. I think they're still unsure of the band's direction, but I think things will just start fitting into place once they practice a bit more and write some more music. Andy had me singing backups for "Take on me", which was quite hilarious. They also ended the practice with a classic cover..."Phil Likes Porno", which I actually picked up an axe and played. It was definitely the cherry on top of the sundae. I wish them the best, because they genuinely have talent.

I also did some more research on Object-Oriented Programming for PHP. I basically found zero info about it on the web, and didn't find a single book on Amazon about OOP/PHP. So, I'm gonna do some more research on it, because this might be an excellent "in" for me.

That'll be it for now.

Dev-Space Update
Wednesday, February 22, 2006 18:52

So, since I'm home and basically am sitting here doing absolutely nothing...I took a look at the code for Dev-Space. I also decided that I think I know what the problem I'm having with it. I need to make Dev-Space Object-Oriented.

For you non-CS-type people out there, Object-Oriented is a method of programming that's very modular, and makes for easier programming (hopefully).

So, I'm trying to figure out a way to re-design Dev-Space, so as to make it Object-Oriented. It'll actually be a difficult task, but once it's finished I should be able to make faster and better updates to Dev-Space.

Wish me luck. Oh yeah, I still haven't found a job yet.

Just another update, to say that I'm still alive.
Saturday, February 18, 2006 09:15

So, now that you all know the big news in my life, you're probably wondering what I'm doing with all this free time in my life. Well, I'll tell you, but it's really not all that interesting.

I applied to like 1 million jobs, and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I've actually only gotten one call back, and it was from Best Buy, not my dream employer, but I'm bored as hell, just sitting around doing nothing.

I applied for two jobs through SRU. Those jobs are the ones I'm going to be sitting back and waiting for. One is a server technician, on campus, and pays more than the job at the library. The cool thing about working for SRU is that you get "fringe" benefits, like I'd be able to finish my degree for free, which is quite nifty.

The other job through Slippery Rock is actually located at the Regional Learning Alliance, where I worked during this semester. It's actually pretty much the same thing I was doing when I did work there, except that the pay is magnificant. But, there aren't any "fringe" benefits for this job, so, classes wouldn't be for free.

I applied for a position at Pitt, a bunch of information technician jobs in the Youngstown and Butler areas. Still haven't heard anything from any of those employers.

This is the worst part of the job search...waiting...It's driving me crazy. No one calls or returns emails. It's evil. So, I play alot of NES, watch movies on demand, or spend my time looking for employment. It's not the lifestyle that I enjoy. Though, I must say that I have 0 stress, and I feel so much better. That's one step closer to where I want to be.

I guess that'll be it for now. I'll keep in touch if anything interesting comes up.

The Next Big Drama
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 19:21

If you haven't heard the gossip by now, hear this: I quit SRU.

No kidding.

It was a hard decision, but one I felt that had to be made. I need time off to clear up a few things in my life before I start ruining it.

So, I'm currently looking for full-time work, hopefully through a place that will let me continue my education later on in my life.

I do plan on finishing my degree, and expect to begin classes as soon as the summer semester. Completion of my degree is top priority, right behind clearing up those few things in my life.

Don't worry, I'm not going to go emo on myself and start cutting my wrists in the wrong direction so that I get attention. I'm fine. I just had to make a tough decision and plan on righting myself.

Thats it for now.

Where oh where have my posts gone?
Wednesday, February 08, 2006 22:03

Yeah. I've been busy.

College (17 credits) + Work (20 hrs/week in Cranberry) leads to unhappiness. I'm down to 13 credits, thanks to stress (and general dislike for the course). I am now working at the Regional Learning Alliance - The RLA, where I am the IT intern.

I got so stressed out last week that I got sick and missed classes 2 days straight and one day of work. I do not suggest missing that many classes...it doesn't help the stress subside.

The pay at the RLA is horrible, and barely covers the gas it takes to get there. I did apply for other positions, where I might actually collect a few bucks...before the government decides to take the rest of my earnings. I hope I get a job with better hours and better pay. Otherwise, I might burst like a pimple and leave my debts upon those I love.

Anyways...I've just been putting off an update for so long. There's been a million things happening that I'd love to post, but the time has past, and no one wants to read week-old bloggings.

I did quit my job with Media Services. It was a pleasant job for a student, and paid the same as the one where I have to drive over an hour every day just to get to work. I keep bumping into my old boss...who's a nice guy and also knows my current boss...kinda odd situation.

so, I better get some programming done, because I have a program due tomorrow at 11:00AM, before I go to work. I also have pre-calc to do and I haven't even started yet. I just wanted to throw a post out there for my loyal readers...being only 2 people out there. I am alive and somewhat well.

I'm out.

Phil

Another week gone...
Monday, January 23, 2006 11:24

So, I've finished the first week of classes already. It's crazy.

So, Mondays officially suck. I have classes from 8am, until like 9pm. Between classes, I have work. It's crazy...trust me.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are good days. They're actually quite relaxing days, though that may change thanks to getting an interview for a job/internship from the RLA...aka the Regional Learning Alliance. Hopefully they'll let me work the weekends.

Steelers won...good weeekend. Enough said.

That's it for now.

Gin and Tonic Night Leaves Scars
Sunday, January 15, 2006 19:52

Gin and Tonic, a drink that tastes like you're chewing on pine needles. Do not let the taste fool you. Nearly downing an entire gallon of gin and a bottle of jager will leave scars the next day. Twas an interesting Gin and Tonic night. I'd be glad to do it again.

I've made some changes to Dev-Space. Now you are able to register. Why, you may ask...if you register you'll be able to post comments and do other member-type things. Though I haven't made it possible to post comments yet, I'm working on it. So, register and make me happy!

I'm back at SRU, again. Hopefully there'll be something to do, because I'm bored as hell.

I'm out.

Nintendo Lives!
Saturday, January 14, 2006 15:24

I was hanging out with Pat this past week. He and I enjoy playing Kirby's Dream Course...such a classic for the Super Nintendo. There, he and I decided that the NES was the best gaming console ever created. So, we went to some little shop in Sharon and I picked up a refurbished NES.

I've been constantly playing Super Mario Bros, 1, 2 and 3, Duck Hunt and even the original Tetris. Kyli is horrible at Duck Hunt. She can't even hit a friggin' duck.

So, NES is wildly entertaining and def. worth the money I spent.

Tonight, I'm heading to James' place in New Castle for Gin and Tonic night. Should be quite interesting. I'm out.

Windows Software I Enjoy
Thursday, January 12, 2006 16:44

Here's a few titles I enjoy using on my Windows Lappy.

SmartFTP - SmartFTP is an excellent graphical FTP client that's free.

HTML-Kit - By far, the best Windows IDE for web-based programming. It's also free. It's so small, it's one of the applications I have installed on my flash drive so I can run it from any computer I'm at.

Mozilla Firefox - Of course, Mozilla's Firefox, the free, Open-Source web browser based off of Netscape's code. To each his own!

Winamp - What can I say, I'm a Winamp junkie, and have been since the late 90s. I enjoy Winamp, and always enjoy hearing "Winamp, WINAMP, It really whips the llama's ass!".

Dev C++ - My favorite C++ IDE, based upon GNU's GCC compiler. If you're a C++ programmer, and want something well-tested and free, this is the program.

The GIMP - If you're too poor to buy Adobe's Photoshop, then this is for you. It's a Photoshope clone that's completely open-source and free!

Google's Picassa - Google bought out the company developing this electronic photo album and made it a free and useful application. It's got quite a nice graphical interface. If google would only take this interface and throw it onto a GNU distro...ah...dreams...

BitTornado - A Bittorrent client. Free + simple = good.

GAIM - GAIM is an instant messenger much like Trillian, but this one is open source. Connect to yahoo, msn, AIM, IRC etc. etc. it's free and nifty.

Irfanview - Irfanview is a nifty tool for viewing, batch conversion, and simple photo editing. It's free and makes picture conversion a snap.

OpenOffice.Org - OpenOffice is a complete Microsoft Office ripoff. Thing is, it's free and it reads/writes Microsoft Office documents! Def. an amazing application, and will save a normal consumer $300-$400!

WinRAR - A powerful archiving program. Kinda like Winzip, but with more compression types. The trial version works forever and does all that one needs.

That'll be it for now. Have a good one.

Dev-Space Update
Monday, January 09, 2006 21:32

I've been working on Dev-Space on and off this entire break. I took a look at one of the files today and realized that it's nearly 500 lines of very jumbled code. This made me realize that I'm not going to obtain my goal of completing Dev-Space before classes start up. The code is a bit too confusing to be productive, so I'm going to need to make some major changes.

I have updated the IP logging system so that you can view the logs in a much easier format. I've also added the ability to create sub-sections, though, I am currently working on a way to improve it. I've also coded a script for user registration, so that in the near future users will have the opportunity to add comments, and maybe even post information up on my site.

I took off my old resume and updated it with a PDF version. The old resume didn't work in the latest version of Firefox, but I'm hoping to revamp it to make it work sometime.

I also made my webpage impossible to be read by people using MS Internet Explorer. I don't agree with Microsoft's web browser and decided to follow standards they don't support. If that bothers you, don't browse my site. If you have problems viewing my site with a browser other than IE, let me know and I'll see if I can make the needed changes.

That'll be it for now. Have a good one!

My 21st Birthday Weekend
Monday, January 09, 2006 10:51

My birthday officially came and passed. It was a grand time. I'm glad all those people could make it to celebrate my 21st birthday. Thanks for coming and making my birthday quite unforgettable.

I think we decided that I had the equilivant of 14 shots during the night of my party...(I know, it's not 21, but I was sick the night before, thanks to the good old diner food). The night before, my sister, Kyli and I went out and had a few drinks...then we came home and I didn't feel all that well. I've also learned that Jager is good stuff and clears up stomach aches with a single shot.

I took some pictures, but I haven't taken the time to throw them into a gallery yet. Hopefully I'll get around to doing that before too long, as I have some funny pictures of Andy.

That's all I'm gonna say for now. Have a good one.

Guess who's legal!
Thursday, January 05, 2006 23:27

That's correct. Saturday, I'll be legal! We're going to be partying at the Chestnut St. Cafe in Sharon, starting about 8 or 9 (for those of you who are also legal). Come on down and buy me a drink! It should be a grand ol' time. Lots of my friends will be there, so don't be shy!

After-Christmas Update
Tuesday, December 27, 2005 00:30

Christmas came and went. Now all that's left is a heaping pile of used wrapping paper and gracious amounts of time before school starts back up.

I had a swell Christmas. Good eats, good spirits. Twas an excellent time.

SRU's grades have been posted. Normally, this would be a bad thing, but I made quite an improvement in the gradebook.

As stated before, I plan on completing Dev-Space by the end of the break. I'm on my way to creating the ability to add comments to my site, along with an entire registration system. Hell, I might even create a website for my family based around my content management system. If you guys have any suggestions for what you'd like to see on my website, I'd be glad to hear your comments.

That's it for now...it's bedtime.

Here's the big story!

Finally, I've decided to let everyone know what's this big news that I've been holding back from everyone. This past week I was offered a job in New Castle, at the public library. I'd be the Technical Coordinator for an entire district of libraries, which includes Mercer, Lawrence, Butler and Armstrong counties. They offered me a complete package, benefits, decent pay and an excellent working environment. The pay is excellent for someone without a degree.

I declined the job. Many people think I'm crazy for my decision, but it was a hard one to make. If I were to do this job, I'd have to go to school part-time. I'm already slated to graduate in winter of 2007. With this job...who knows when I'd graduate. It's also not what I want to do with my life. I know I could easily take over this job and even go to SRU at the same time, but it's just plainly not what I want to do with my life. I want to go into programming, research, and quite possibly teaching. Having this job would pretty much wipe away my dreams. So, I declined.

I referred one of my friends to the library, in hopes that he'd take my place. It'd be an excellent job for him and I know he's suited for the position.

This all means that I'll be living another semester in my "off-campus dorm." It's not such a bad place, as long as you don't mind being woken up by drunks at 3:45 am.

I also had Christmas this weekend. We had an early Christmas because my sister lives out in Virginia and couldn't make it here on Christmas day. It was a grand time with the family. That's it for now.

Big News to Come Shortly
Friday, December 16, 2005 16:24

Basically, something big in my life is happening. I can't really say what it is, yet, but once it has been made official I will definitely post it up on my website.

I started looking for apartments this week (which also falls into the big news category). It seems that there's alot of places in New Castle. The one place we were looking at is right outside of town and seems to be a beautiful place. We're supposed to be taking a look at one of these apartments this weekend, if all works out.

Anyways, tonight I'm gonna sit back, chill, and hopefully watch a movie with Kyli. Finals week was hellish and I'm glad it's over.

I'll post back more when I officially can. I'm out!

Belated Update
Monday, December 12, 2005 15:14

It's been a while since my last update, and with having one of my fellow classmates saying that he enjoyed my site, I decided to go ahead and throw together this update.

In the past week, I found out some interesting stuff. The first being that one of my professors now reads my website. This prof. stopped my in class one day to share her enjoyment of my "engagement photos" with Toby. Once I found out that she had read my website, I quickly went back into the archives to see if I had written anything bad about her (of course, there's no reason I'd ever write anything bad about her), but I hadn't. I just remember Poof writing some controversial things about someone of power over at West Middlesex High School, which I thought was funny, but the administrators thought differently. I surely don't want a libel suit!

I found out that hard work does not always ensure a decent grade, and sometimes the inverse ensures you a good grade. I kinda slacked off in one of my classes but found out that my standing in that class is rather well. It's kinda funny, because the name of the class is "Database Processing", which revolves around designing and modifying databases using SQL. The funny part is that my entire website revolves around an SQL database, and I've coded the entire thing myself.

I also made some minor changes to the design of the website. I actually went back and cleaned up a bunch of html code so that my site would be W3C-compliant for both html and css. I think I still need to make some more minor changes, but I'll save that for Christmas break.

One of my college friends said that he enjoyed my website, which is definitely nice to know. He did make some suggestions as how to make it better, and I'm taking them into consideration.

This weekend, one of my sisters brought her boyfriend home. Needless, my father and I were excited to meet him. The reason they came to visit (he's from Chicago and she lives in Pittsburgh) was because it was her birthday. We had a nice meal and great desert. I also decided that he's a complete computer nerd like I am, and he would be a great addition to the family, more so for me than my sister. So, I welcome him to the family, as long as he's willing to LAN with me sometime.

Oh yeah...Happy Birthday, sisters!

That's it for today. Have a good one!

This is how a weekend should be!
Sunday, December 04, 2005 22:50

Last week, the weekend couldn't come any faster. Now that it's over, I wish I could go back and do it again.

It was quite a relaxing weekend. It started off with Kyli and I going to Kahunaville, where I had the most excellent dinner I think I've ever had. I even went to bed before 9:30! I also woke up at 9:30 on Saturday. Now that's relaxing!

Saturday, I lazed around my house for most of the day, hanging out with my parents and setting up the Christmas tree. Kyli came over and we watched Saturday Night Live, with Dane Cook (we love him). I got some shut eye and Sunday lurked upon me. Kyli and I went shopping for some wedding bands, only to come home empty-handed and purely pissed-off at Kings jewelry. We did make it back in time to catch the last quarter of the Steelers game, which was quite a disappointment. My father made chilli, my mother made homemade chicken noodle soup and stuffed shells. It was quite a nice, relaxing weekend. I wish I could have more of those!

Though hell week came to an end, another lesser hellish week is upon me. I've got a bunch of little projects and things that need to be done this week and next, before classes come to an end. So, if you're talking to me on AIM, you damn well better make sure that I've completed all my assignments before continuing the conversation.

Oh yeah. My beard still exists. I kinda look like Andy, which sickens me. Mono...you need to pick up your PS2. Andy...you need to pick up my video card. I don't deliver, unless Taco Bell is involved.

It is done
Thursday, December 01, 2005 18:04

My hellish week is finally coming to an end. My program has been turned in, my paper completed and my beard still exists. Yes, I started growing a beard starting this weekend, and claimed I wouldn't shave it until I have everything completed...kinda like when Andy claimed he wouldn't shave until hockey season started.

I just finished a refreshing nap. I didn't get much sleep last night, thanks to my neighbors being completely smashed and I had to write a paper. By the way, I think my paper was a success. It was a technical paper on designing secure databases for use with web applications written in PHP. It's definitely a good read for anyone who is a PHP/SQL coder. I'll be posting it up on my site shortly.

I've decided that Mozart is the coolest man, ever. I was watching Amadeus today. Amadeus is one of my favorite movies. It tells such an amazing story in an exceptionally thrilling way. Not only is it a good story, but the music is amazing. I even had to go out and purchase Mozart's Requiem after seeing the movie another time. I have Mrs. Emmett to thank for getting me hooked on this movie. We watched it in Music Theory...such good times!

So, basically, my week is becoming much better, thanks to having everything important turned in. I'm still anxiously awaiting Kahunaville!

That's it for now

Unbeknownst to Me!
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 23:51

So, I was in the library today, getting another copy of Windows XP...because if the University is going to waste money on Microsoft products for CS students, I might as well abuse my status as a CS student. Anyways, I met up with one of the students from my programming class...the one that I had that program that was due on Monday. Well, he told me that she had postponed the due date until Wednesday's class. That made me quite happy...though I doubt I'll still have it finished by then. At least I'll be able to get so much more of it done.

I just realized that I've been wearing earphones for the past 15 minutes without listening to any music...

Tomorrow, I'll be living in the library so that I can finish my research paper by Thursday's class. Basically, I cannot wait until Friday comes. I'll be eating a fine dinner from Kahunaville and then relaxing at home for the rest of the night (aka watching movies and sleeping until late Saturday morning).

Thanksgiving From Hell
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 12:02

So, I had one of those holiday breaks where everything that could go wrong went wrong.

I got called in to work at New Castle, which isn't bad, specially since I need the cash. The problem is that they wanted me to work Friday and Saturday. So, basically, those two days were spent working pretty hard and not resting. I've been stressed out and needed a break, and didn't get it. Not only that, but I had planned on going shopping on black friday. So, I went shopping at 1:15 am, and didn't even get what I wanted to get. After shopping, I had to go directly to work with no sleep. That plain sucked.

So, I didn't get enough sleep the entire weekend, which just stressed me even more. To top that, I have a paper due this Thursday, and a program due Monday...as in yesterday. So, I went to work on my program on my computer, so I could turn it in on time...and my computer of 1.5 years decided to shit the bed. So, I didn't have a computer. So, I went out and bought a laptop. Now, I have to hope that my professor will allow me to turn in my project late.

Basically, I just can't wait until this week is over. My life will be so much easier once this week is done.

Site Re-Design!
Monday, November 21, 2005 21:51

I'm sure you can tell that my site has been redesigned. If you didn't notice...now you should!

I also have a random quote displaying on the side. Hope you like it.

I'll be fixing some bugs in the display later on...such as the site not displaying correctly in IE, and the back-end administration menu's formatting is somewhat skewed.

That's it for now

Post Editing Now Available!!!
Saturday, November 19, 2005 16:09

I've updated Dev-Space once again. This time, I've made it possible to edit posts. This is quite a breakthrough for me (even though it only took about 4 lines of code to make this possible). The administration side of Dev-Space is starting to come together.

That's it for now, beetches!

Bye Bye, Birdie
Friday, November 18, 2005 15:01

The West Middlesex musical began with its first performance last night. It definitely was an interesting experience. There weren't any extremely large errors in the performance, just a few small screw-ups that were easily rectified. I just can't wait until this entire thing is over!

Kyli and I finally got all of our engagement photos back and they're just marvelous! I'll be posting them sometime soon, once I get my life back from the musical...

I've been making some improvements to Dev-Space's administration system. I'm still planning on having Dev-Space "completed" by the end of this year (or beginning of next year). I'll be spending some precious time with it during my holiday break.

Thanksgiving break sucks. At good ol' SRU, we only get Thursday and Friday off. That doesn't give me much time to catch up on assignments.

Dave Mac invited me to go with him shopping on Black Friday, and now that I want a laptop, it seems much more appropriate to buy one on Black Friday. So, maybe I'll be doing some "shopping" next Friday.

I think that's it for now.

General Dev-Space updates
Sunday, November 13, 2005 09:46

I finally made permalinks available. Now, if you like one of my posts, you can link directly to just that link and send it to someone else. Tis a nice feature.

That's is for now...I must work on my research paper, or Kyli might decide to rip my throat out and feed my insides to malnourished children from Ethiopia

Damn you, Waterloo!
Wednesday, November 09, 2005 14:29

This past weekend was the ACM programming competition at Ashland University of Ohio. I had a grand time. We had 5 hours to complete 8 problems. Both teams from SRU completed a total of 0 problems. It definitely was an eye opening experience.

Besides wasting 5 hours on mind boggling questions, I had an overall good time. I learned some very interesting things about some professors and other students in my major. I also got my hands on an ACM t-shirt and cd-binder. With gifts like that, I can't complain about the hellish hours spent tearing my hair out.

If you're interested in how SRU did in the competition, or would like to see how hellish the questions were, please, feel free to visit acm.ashland.edu.

I'm living at home this week and next, due to Middlesex's musical. I'm doing the sound for the musical...just like old times, except cash is involved this time around. I've decided that if I'm going to drive back home every day from SRU, I might as well shower in my own shower, eat mother's home-cooked meals and sleep in my own uncomfortable bed.

I'm also in a good mood, because I found out that I was one of 3 people in my programming class to finish an assignment. I also got a 39 out of 40, which makes me happy.

Anywho, that's it for now.

My Weekend Update
Monday, October 31, 2005 06:46

It's crunchtime in this semester. I have a paper due next Tuesday, a program due Friday, another program due this Tuesday, a couple of programs that were due last Tuesday and so on. I also have the ACM programming competition this weekend, which takes place Friday and Saturday, sucking time away from projects and papers.

I did have a pretty good weekend, though. Kyli came over and we had a relaxing weekend. We watched the new Amityville Horror, Dodgeball, and The Evil Dead 2. We also carved some pumpkins!

I'm heading homebound after classes today, to get a home cooked meal.

US Steel
Thursday, October 20, 2005 20:20

It looks like US Steel has chosen to not hire me as an intern. As disappointed as I am, this experience has only made me realize that only I can utilize my own potential.

I had to take a hellish test, which took about an hour and a half. At the end of the test, I was told that I was on the verge of being hired, but being that close is not good enough. I know that I'm capable of such a position, but if they won't give me the opportunity, I will make my own.

Always expect more.

It's been a while!
Wednesday, October 12, 2005 15:23

It's been a while since my last post. I guess I've just been quite busy the past couple of weeks and haven't even had enough time to get over my cold of two weeks.

It's that time right before midterms, where all professors want a project completed or a test taken. I'm stuck in the middle of all these activities, sick, wanting to spend 24 hours a day relaxing until my health is completely back to par. Also, I have a veteran on my ass working me out. I'm also supposed to completely change my diet, dropping down to about 1800 calories a day...which is rather hellish. I really haven't been sleeping well. The best I sleep is during class. I just wish school would slow down one week...just one week off would give me time to get back on track.

Enough with my complaining.

I really haven't touched Dev-Space for a couple of weeks now, which isn't a good thing, but I have many plans for it. Dev-Space is still in its infancy, but I believe I will have it ready to release to the public by next year. This is probably a bit ambitious, but I pretty much wrote most of its code in one day.

I've entered in an ACM programming competition in Ashland University of Ohio. It's sponsored by Big Blue...aka IBM. I believe it takes place November 4th and 5th. SRU will be covering all the costs of hotels, transportation, and food.

I'm trying to get employment through US Steel. Their interns start at $17 an hour. They're going to be giving out aptitude tests at my school, and hire people the same day. So, Oct. 20th, hope for the best!

I guess that'll be it for today. I'm out

Dev-Space.net Goes Live
Saturday, October 01, 2005 11:03

I've lifted my website from the Alpha testing stage. Now, it is in the Beta testing stage. My site is live and DevSpace is now out in the public eye. Not only that, but I now own Dev-Space.net.

It's been a long week of programming, and DevSpace is coming a long ways, while still being in its infancy. The backside configuration is being written for DevSpace so that it can be a modular program that almost any half-witted technical-mind will be able to utilize. Oh yes, I forgot to mention. Once DevSpace is completed (or at least near completion), I will release the source for DevSpace under one of the GPLs. That means (for you un-technical people) that DevSpace will be free and open source!

On a side note, I am looking for a web designer to compliment DevSpace's code. If anyone is up for the task, please feel free to email me at gmail image.

That's it for today!

Linux was never alive!
Sunday, September 25, 2005 22:36

Organization of the internet blows ass. Googling for something doesn't work like it used to, only a few short years ago. When you're looking for a concise answer to your inquisitive question, good luck finding that solution.

This brings me to my dislike for linux. Most of you know that I enjoy linux, used to run it as my operating system, and am an advocate of the socialistic ideal of open source software. Now, due to poor organization and support, I now realize that linux will never be the perfect operating system to overwhelm the masses and save the world from capitalistic monopolies. I have lost all hope.

Linux is a great idea...pulling together the brightest minds of academia and collaborating to materialize free software for the masses. I will make a broad generalization: linux programmers are stubborn and program for their needs only. With this in mind, the magnificant ideal of linux is ruined. Programmers will never collaborate to complete a version of linux that appeals to the masses. They will also evade any possibilities of supporting hardware for their platform. Of course, this is more a problem deriving from hardware vendors lacking a unified linux platform that holds decent market share on which they could create drivers. The hardware vendors will only support software that has the largest market share, only because they are capitalistic as much as the company who created the monopoly in the first place. It's a damn catch-22. As you should know, catch-22s are a vicious cycle that will never be broken.

Long live capitalism! Long live the customer's lack of selection! Long live the monopoly!

Screenshots!
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 22:49

I've decided to upload a screenshot of the backend system that drives my page.

screenshot of devspace

It's very basic, but it does the job. By the way, I've decided upon a name for my CMS. It's tenatively called "Devspace", short for "Developer's Space."

Now I must return to reading my Computer Ethics book. Wish me luck, for I have a quiz tomorrow.

So, here it is. My site, using my own Content Management System (CMS).

Each page is based upon my blogging system. Therefore, each page can be posted, updated, modified, and even archived just by using a few little statements of SQL.

I've also implemented an IP logging system/hit counter.

All my content is obviously not gone. I just haven't re-posted it using my blogging system. Some major changes to the overall system are still being made, though, it is working!

Here's a couple of things I need to work on in the near future:

That's it for now. Thanks for visiting!
